The objective is to prepare students for the professional contexts of pop and rock music, developing autonomy, listening skills, adaptation, awareness of their role and collaboration within the ensemble. The structure of the course includes programs calibrated to the level of study and musical function of each group, with specific materials, repertoire and working methods.
“Luca Marenzio” State Conservatory — Brescia, Italy
Pop/Rock Composition & Songwriting Techniques
The teaching activity is dedicated to the development of students' writing and compositional identity, through courses calibrated on the artistic profile, aptitudes and original materials of each student.
The work includes songwriting, song form, melodic writing, harmony, arrangement, production and construction of the timbral landscape. The formal and harmonic analysis of the repertoire, guided listening and revision of the original pieces allow us to delve deeper into the relationship between musical idea, writing, organization of form and sound creation. The path integrates instruments and concepts from popular music, jazz and the compositional tradition, with the aim of broadening individual language and making creative, formal and sonic choices more aware.
